There are other supplements that are very important for improving the health of the egg. They include;

  1. DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone): It is the building block for most sexual and steroid hormones. DHEA concentration declines in our bodies as we get older. It peaks between the ages 20-25 and declines at a rate of about 20% per decade, falling in the elderly to levels of less than 10% of initial values. In women 35 and above trying to get pregnant, there is less DHEA in their ovaries to work with from the beginning. DHEA increases the number of oocytes, fertilization rate, fertilized oocytes, and clinical pregnancy rate and ongoing pregnancy rate in women with poor ovarian reserve. The use of DHEA also reduced the duration of controlled ovarian stimulation and the dose of gonadotropin. DHEA should be taken for at least 3 months to get any significant benefit. The dose is usually 50-75mg in daily in divided doses.
  2. Vitamin D: The Vit D referred to is 25(OH) Vitamin D. It increases implantation & clinical pregnancy rates, achieved with eggs from women who had higher vitamin D serum levels. The optimal serum level of 25 (OH) Vitamin D for a woman wishing to get pregnant is 40-50ng/ml.
  3. Vitamin E: It is an antioxidant that serves to protect the eggs from free radical damage. Free radicals can affect both the cellular health and the DNA of the oocyte. An oocyte damaged by free radicals can lead to poor quality oocyte, reduced fertilization rate and thus clinical pregnancy rate. There is also increased incidence of birth defeats
  4. Vitamin C: It is an antioxidant that helps to protect the eggs from free radical damages.
  5. Co Q10 (Ubiquinone): It improves egg health and fertilization rate, especially in women above 35 years.  It is a vitamin like substance present in most cells of the body.
  6. Royal Jelly: One of the superfood, a nutrient dense substance secreted from specific glands in the nurse worker bees. Royal Jelly is rich in amino acids (29 amino acids), 10-hydroxydecenoic acid (10-HAD), lipids, sugars, vitamins and protein. It contains vitamin A, B complex (including folic acid and inositol), C, D & E. It also has calcium, iron and other minerals. Royal Jelly has been found to improve egg health and ensure hormone balance. The dose is 500-3000mg daily in 2-3 divided doses. It comes in either capsule or semi liquid form.
